Will County Executive Office

Under general supervision of the Deputy Administrator and/or Administrator, performs technical and routine care for the animals in the shelter environment as well as owned pets. Primary focus is on providing comfort and healthcare to the animals at the shelter, assisting surgery and medical treatment of the animals and maintains records as well as the medical areas and equipment. Work includes giving vaccinations and medications, microchipping, and assisting veterinarians. Provides prompt courteous service to customers. Collect samples for testing and perform laboratory tests. Medicate, vaccinate, and treat animals as prescribed by the veterinarian. Administer anesthesia and monitor animals under anesthesia. Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures. This includes using proper minimally aversive restraint. Perform other duties as assigned.

Associate degree in veterinary technology, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Experience in an animal welfare environment preferred. Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License required. Must acquire Certified Euthanasia Training within 6 months of hire.
