Assigned to the Joliet Location. Operates and maintains flatbed trucks with two (2) and three (3) axle vehicles, dump trucks and flat bed with 2 and 3 phase booms, auger, wench, bucket, hydraulic puller, and driver. Coordinates daily work assignments through Sign Maintainer Lead or designee. Logs and maintains an accurate daily diary of all work assignments, such as installations, sign replacements, straightening, repairs, etc. Sign material usage shall be given to Leader or Designee daily to be placed in inventory program. Operates and maintains paint striping machine or other lane marking equipment to paint lines, symbols, and letters. Operates and maintains tape and paint striping grinder. Safely Operate Sign Truck along with boom for pushing posts into the ground, pulling posts from the ground, maneuvering bucket, wench, setting outriggers, power inverter, and other hydraulics. May order JULIE locates, in the absence of the Sign Maintainer Leader, which may include diagram of sign placement, distance, directions, etc. Performs routine inspection and maintenance on equipment such as lubricating moving parts, checking oil, water, mirrors, tires, and lights.
High school graduation or equivalency preferred. Three (3) years as Road Maintainer or similar background with operating familiarity of department vehicles and equipment used is required. Possession of a valid CDL Class A or B with Air Brakes endorsement required. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move material/equipment weighing up to 50 pounds routinely and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Will be exposed to year-round outdoor weather conditions. Subject to a Criminal Background Check, pre-employment Drug Screening Test and /or Drug and Alcohol Test, Driver’s License Check, and Employee Physical. This position is subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse Pre-employment Queries on any potential new DOT FMCSA regulated driver prior to placement in a safety-sensitive position.
