Village of Lombard

The Village of Lombard, IL is seeking candidates for the position of a part-time Permit Technician within the Community Development Department. This position performs administrative and technical work in the fast-paced building permit review functions of the department; processes applications for building, and related permits; schedules and records building inspections; interacts with developers, contractors and general public on related permitting and building issues. The position will also be responsible for receiving initial process, inspection scheduling and issuance of electronic plan and building permit applications. The Permit Technician assists citizens/customers of the department in a friendly, courteous, professional manner using clear oral and written business communications. The position will also assist with special events and will also cross train with other departments at the Village of Lombard to be able to assist with a wide variety of daily activities across Village departments through the Village’s Skill Based Pay Program.

The position is scheduled for a 27-hour work week, with work hours to be Monday through Friday in the afternoon.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires excellent communication, math, computer skills, with demonstrated abilities working with data tracking and processing software tracking, and a desire to work directly and independently with the public. Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word and Excel experience a plus. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of clerical, permit processing or related experience in an office environment.

Starting Annual Salary
Skill Based Pay (SBP) hourly salary range of $25.99 – $37.08, with an anticipated starting rate of up to $27.00 DOQ. IMRF pension.
