Public Works Department – Streets/Storm Sewer Foreman

Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises and oversees snow and ice control removal, localized flooding issues, facilities maintenance, pavement striping, catch basin repairs, sewer flushing, street sign installations, street repairs, street light maintenance, curb repairs and detention pond maintenance. Utilizes smart technology such as iPads, laptops, computers, smart phones, cameras, and technical equipment. Prepares and maintains various records and reports.

Additional Responsibilities:

·       Heavy equipment operating, to include but not limited to backhoes, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, rollers, plate compactors, hauling equipment with trailers, excavators, and street saws.

·       Mechanical Diagnostic skills/Use of power tools

·       Electrical diagnosis/Repairs (480v/230v/120v)

·       Building Maintenance (including HVAC, plumbing and exterior work)

·       Snow and Ice Control (Anti-Ice, Plowing, Salting)

This is an ON-CALL (24/7 emergency response) position.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D., Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s.   Requires a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in streets, storm sewer and facilities management. A minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience is preferred, but not required.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $79,240-$113,200 +/- dependent upon qualifications. The Village offers a competitive benefits package including paid time off; medical, dental, and life insurance; and membership in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). Residency is not required.
