We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Advocate to join our team at Dickinson Hall, Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Senior Center. As the Senior Advocate for Dickinson Hall, you will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing the lives of older adults within our community.

Examples of Duties

  • Assist low-income seniors in accessing financial assistance programs
  • Conduct home, hospital and nursing home visits for assessment purposes and provide additional support and referrals, as needed
  • Recommend programs and services to the Senior Resources Manager based on the observations and interactions with the members
  • Increase visibility and awareness of Dickinson Hall’s social services to agencies that interact with the senior population in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff
  • Assist older adults in understanding and enrolling in Medicare as a SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program) counselor

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years’ experience working with seniors and demonstrated ability to manage complex needs of adults 50 and older
  • Bachelors degree in Social Work or related field, such as Gerontology, Psychology or Sociology, preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to provide in-home services
  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite

Starting Salary Range: $56,885-$64,723 Depending on Qualifications
Full Salary Range: $56,885-$78,560, Annual Progression Expected
