
Cook County Offices Under The President
Job Summary
Performs technical reviews of site civil improvements, stormwater management calculations, and related documents submitted in support of building permit applications for developments in unincorporated Cook County. Provides technical commentary in writing as appropriate. Performs field inspections when necessary and support or dispute claims, verify plan submittals, support field inspectors, consult with project engineers, and administer professional service contracts.

Minimum Qualifications
*Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering and
*Two (2) years as a civil engineer or directly related experience or
*An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.
Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance is required.

Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by either the World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge of professional engineering principles, practices, and methods related to stormwater management,
hydrology, and hydraulics.
Knowledge of methods and techniques of engineering plan design, review, and approval.
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and prepare letters and memoranda.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in layman’s terms.
Ensures that best customer service is provided in dealing with contractors, engineers, and property owners.
Ability to work in construction hazard and related environments.
Ability to travel to various Cook County work sites.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry,
push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking orstanding for
brief periods of time.
