We are pleased to offer the current job opportunity for an ERP Applications Manager . This position reports to the IT department and will plan and direct the activities of the ERP support team and systems, including Dayforce, Infor, OpenGov, MHC, and other enterprise systems, and ensure effective operation. The ERP Applications Manager will also play a key role in identifying, implementing, and supporting a new ERP system in the near future.

The ERP Applications Manager at DuPage County is tasked with overseeing the planning, design, implementation, and support of ERP systems and the associated support staff. The ideal candidate will efficiently organize and lead ERP projects of various complexities and sizes, manage operational activities, and supervise staff. This role includes supporting ERP initiatives across DuPage County departments and Elected Official offices. Additionally, the ERP Applications Manager will collaborate with system users, and will work closely with other IT department divisions to identify and implement optimal ERP solutions for the County.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate with various county departments, elected officials, and stakeholders to understand and streamline business processes within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Work directly with vendors, contractors, and county departments (e.g., Finance, Human Resources, Treasurer, Auditor) to deliver project scopes, quality assurance, budget expertise, and scheduling for patches and updates.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure ERP systems and processes meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the county, ERP vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders for system implementations, upgrades, and support.
  • Identify and define resources (personnel, budget, technology) required to successfully execute ERP-related projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure the technical and functional objectives of the ERP systems are identified, met, and aligned with the county’s overall IT strategy.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the ERP systems by adhering to IT security best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee maintenance activities, configuration, and integration of third-party software systems with the ERP system, ensuring accurate and timely data transfer.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to meet established deadlines and objectives.
  • Implement and follow standard project management methodologies (e.g., Agile) and IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) for ERP system changes and enhancements.
  • Ensure the ERP systems and integrated applications (e.g., finance, human resources, payroll, procurement) are operating effectively and efficiently at all times.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency through the implementation of new ERP modules or functionalities.
  • Lead and manage the implementation of large-scale ERP system upgrades, integrations, new modules, and related projects as the project manager or technical lead.
  • Foster a positive work environment, identify and resolve employee relations and performance issues.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of ERP support professionals, including hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and employee development.
  • Monitor and manage ERP-related contracts, negotiations, and change management processes.
  • Determine and oversee system-wide priorities, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives related to the ERP systems.
  • Ensure ERP system documentation, training materials, and end-user training programs are up-to-date and readily available.
  • Maintain and support legacy ERP systems until they are successfully migrated or decommissioned.
  • Develop and maintain ERP system policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent operations and compliance.
  • Analyze and evaluate ERP system performance, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to ERP systems and business process optimization.
  • Prepare reports on system maintenance activities, problem resolutions, and project status updates.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with other organizations for networking, knowledge sharing, and staying updated on integrated information technology systems.
  • Maintain and support legacy ERP systems until they are successfully migrated or decommissioned

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

  •  Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Business Administration or related subject
  •  Seven(7) years experience in ERP system and application management including three years of supervisory experience

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Comprehensive understanding of ERP systems, business processes, and their integration with other applications and databases.
  • Proven project management skills and experience leading complex, cross-functional ERP implementations or upgrades.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices, data privacy regulations, and compliance requirements.
