The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Part-Time Tool Room Attendant position.
Essential Functions:
The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the Public Works Department. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following work in the Public Works Tool Room: Performs routine maintenance and clerical duties associated with the operation of the Public Works Department Tool Room and Shipping/Receiving Dock; accepts deliveries of materials; disperses tools; releases and assists loading barricades into resident vehicles for approved “block parties”, inventories, organizes and issues uniforms , and protective clothing and equipment; performs routine work area cleaning tasks and laundry. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the recycling center – emptying, refilling, and packing recycling items and collecting Styrofoam during set collection times.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. In addition, the successful candidate will have a minimum two years of general shipping/receiving dock experience. Must have a valid Class D driver’s license from the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain license within three (3) months of the start of employment. Class B driver’s license (CDL) is preferred.
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30am-4:00pm
Starting Rate: $19.00 per hour depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits include IMRF pension, holiday and vacation time, and an option to enroll in a 457-retirement plan.
Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, which includes a drug and alcohol screen.
